5 of the Oldest Best Restaurants in Washington State

There are a lot of amazing restaurants all over Washington State. One of my favorite things to do when we visit a new town or city is go eat at the local "spot" everyone talks about. There is nothing like experiencing the food at a restaurant that has been made the same way for multiple generations. Here is a small list of 5 old restaurants you have to visit if your near them in Washington State.

Horseshoe Cafe, Bellingham (113 E Holly St, Bellingham) - est. 1886

Like it says on their website, "The original Horseshoe opened its doors in downtown Bellingham on Holly Street to satisfy the large appetites of these tough, ornery folks in the summer of 1886." It is easily one of the oldest in Washington State, and probably has one of the most interesting histories. They are open 24 hours a day and offer free WiFi if your interested.

Virginia Inn, Seattle (1937 1st Ave) - est. 1903

The Virginia Inn which is located in Seattle off 1st ave, was originally created in 1903 but changed to a bar and restaurant in 1981. You may have visited if you were walking around Pike Place Market and were looking for a great place to eat. Open right before lunch most days of the week at 11:30am except weekends when they open at 10am. There is a ton of art on the walls and it is known as the cities first "Art Bar".

The Vintage Cafe, Everett (1510 Hewitt Ave) - est. 1976

Another one of the oldest buildings holding a restaurant in the Seattle area contains the Vintage Cafe. Built in 1892 as a hotel originally and flipped to a restaurant in 1976. It took on the Vintage Cafe name in 2003. They are closed on Mondays but open early for breakfast at 7am, this is another place you have to visit.

Beth's Cafe, Seattle (7311 Aurora Ave N.) - est. 1954

Beth's Cafe might not be the oldest on the list, but they may have the most notoriety. You might have seen them on both "Man Vs. Food" on the Travel Channel and "Top 5 Big Breakfasts" on the Food Network. They are known for their amazing breakfasts and have been one of the highest rated breakfast spots in Seattle since the 1950's.

The Shelburne Inn, Restaurant & Pub, Seaview (4415 Pacific Way) - est. 1920's

This is "the longest continuously operating hotel in Washington State" according to their website. It features stain glass windows from the 1800's as well as a large wine selection. Located on the Oregon coast at Seaview, this is a restaurant you have to visit if you love a great view!
