Have You Seen This Stolen Van with Rock Star History?

Last weekend, a van belonging to Easy Street Records in West Seattle was stolen. And they are offering a $1,000 reward for it's recovery.

The black van is unremarkable on the surface: No bold logos. Nothing to indicate it belongs to Seattle's favorite long-running record shop-and-café. The only identifying marks are a couple of small Easy Street Records stickers on the driver's side, and a Maple Valley, Washington Sticker on the back window with the name of the original owner - Brandi Carlile.

A Brief History of the Stolen Brandi Carlile Van

Carlile gifted the van to Easy Street Records a couple of years ago. It was the first thing she and her bandmates purchased when they secured a record deal. One of those records, btw, is the EP "Live at Easy Street Records."

Carlile toured the country in that van, driving over 180,000 miles to gigs big and small. But her star has risen considerably since those humble beginnings, and so she gifted this old van to the mom-and-pop record shop. A kind and sentimental gesture to a neighborhood store that has supported her music from the start (and likely fed her own appetite for artist releases).

So yes, the black, nondescript van has a cool history. It may even have sentimental value to Easy Street Records. But mostly, it's functional; utilitarian. It helps Easy Street Records get their work done. And it was stolen over the weekend, last seen near Alki Beach.

They would like it returned.
