‘Community’ Season 5: ‘Star Trek’s LeVar Burton To Return, Troy Already Crying
As if 'Community' season 5 weren't big enough with the returns of series creator Dan Harmon, and guest stars Rob Corddry and John Oliver, the Greendale Gang of NBC's beloved cult comedy will once again host one of its celebrity favorites. 'Star Trek: The Next Generation' star LeVar Burton will reprise his role playing himself for the coming fifth season, but will Troy be able to keep his composure this time around?
Via Vulture, NBC has yet to issue a formal announcement of Burton's return appearance, though the iconic 'Roots' and 'Reading Rainbow' star Tweeted out several photos of himself on set with 'Community' stars Donald Glover and Joel McHale. Given Glover's character obsession with the star, we'd presume Burton's role to take place in one of the five episodes Glover has signed on for this season.
Elsewhere, ‘Community’ season 5′s likely 2014 return will see ‘Justified‘ star Walton Goggins guest as a mysterious man who causes trouble for the Greendale gang, while ‘Breaking Bad”s Jonathan Banks will take a significant recurring role as a new criminology professor. In addition to Oliver's Professor Duncan and comedian Rob Corddry's return as Jeff’s lawyer-rival Alan Connor, returning showrunner Dan Harmon revealed at Comic-Con 2013 his intent to draft a second Dungeons & Dragons-themed episode. Chevy Chase will not return for the fifth season, while Donald Glover will eventually depart to develop his own FX series, ‘Atlanta.’
'Community' season 5 has no formal premiere date, but what say you? Is LeVar Burton's return a good omen for the new episodes, or a sign of the end at hand? Relive the best moments in the clip below and give us your thoughts in the comments!
