If you've seen the movie "Crocodile Dundee", there is a scene where the bad guy pulls out a knife at Dundee and he responds "that's not a knife, this is!" as Dundee pulls out an even larger knife. A Kennewick shoplifter thought they'd try the same, pulling a knife on Fred Meyer employees but turned out NOT to be so brave when approached by Kennewick Police.

The incident occurred on December 12, 2020, at 5:42 PM.

According to a press release from KPD, Kennewick Police Officers were dispatched to a strong-arm robbery at Fred Meyer, 2811 W 10th Ave in Kennewick.

Employees at the location contacted a male, 35-year-old Thomas B. Lecompte who they observed shoplifting.

They reported that when they contacted Lecompte, he brandished a knife in their direction before a short struggle ensued. Lecomte ultimately dropped the knife and fled on foot.

Officers located Lecompte who was running from the location and he was taken into custody without further incident.

Lecompte is being booked into the Benton County Jail for charges for Robbery 1st Degree.

Thankfully no citizens were injured as a result of this incident.

Whew! no one was hurt which is a good thing but hopefully, this guy will think twice about brandishing a knife again when the people who apprehend you have guns, it seems like a stupid move hence like the scene from that "Crocodile Dundee" movie.
