It's ironic that the Drug Enforcement Agency had a Fentanyl Awareness Day this week, Tuesday, May 10th.

Washington group seeking to legalize fentanyl among other drugs

The DEA is trying to call attention to the growing issue of fentanyl and other dangerous narcotics, which are part of the national epidemic if you will.

The DEA released statements that included this:

“Fentanyl is the single deadliest drug threat our nation has ever encountered,” said Administrator Anne Milgram.  “Fentanyl is everywhere.  From large metropolitan areas to rural America, no community is safe from this poison."

In the meantime, there is an initiative that is being pushed, I-1922, that would remove any penalty for personal use of 'personal amounts' of meth, coke, crack, heroin and fentanyl.

The Blake Decision, which decriminalized possession of small amounts of said drugs was handed down by the Supreme Court last year and paved the way for this.

Figuring into the mix are the Department of Health advisories that people who use, or are around recreational drug users carry Narcan in case of accidental overdose.

Mixed messaging to say the least.
