Events Planned For The Upcoming Yakama Nation Treaty Days Commemoration
My home tribe, the Yakama Nation. Is getting ready to welcome back everyone for this years Treaty Days. This is the commemoration of the Treaty of 1855.
When the U.S. Government and Yakama Nation tribal leaders. Came together to sign the treaty of 1855. This treaty is still recognized today.
These events include the return of the rodeo and pow wow in White Swan, Wa. The parade in Toppenish, WA. Located at the Cultural center. And many other events.
Each of these events has their own committee. Through social media each committee has announced what is happening. But a lot of the Yakama Nation is excited to have a lot of these events return.
A lot of these events are free to attended. And open to the public. But it is also recommended to bring some cash. Just incase a vendor does not take any cards.
For the cowboys and cowgirls. The Treaty Days Rodeo is set for June 4th. At rodeo grounds in White Swan, WA. Located near the White Swan Community Center.
So for the Treaty Days Pow wow. The pow wow was originally scheduled for Jun 3rd and 4h of 2022. But the pow wow had been rescheduled to June 10th and 11th. The pow wow is returning to the White Swan Pavilion. Located in White Swan, WA.
The Treaty Days parade is set for June 10th for 10 AM. At the Yakama Nation Cultural Center in Toppenish. This is also the 42nd Anniversary for the Cultural Center.
There will also be a softball tournament. That will be at the Yakama Nation Sport Complex. Located at the Yakama Nation Tribal High School.
