Ex-Seahawk Bennett Charged, Assault on Old Lady at Super Bowl
Today, ex-Seahawk player Michael Bennett was indicted in Harris County (Texas) grand jury for the felony charge of injury of the elderly because of an incident at the Super Bowl.
Bennett was in Houston for last years Super Bowl (51) because his brother was playing in the game. When Bennett's brother was about to win, he tried to get down on the field and pushed through a bunch of security that tried to stop him. One of those injured was a 66-year-old paraplegic woman that was working for NRG Stadium.
The charge is very serious and has a potential penalty of up to ten years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
There is no video of the event, but there are multiple witnesses including police officers at the scene. Allegidly Bennett was told he did not have access and had to use another entrance to get on the field but instead he pushed through them.
“You all must not know who I am. I could own this [place]. I’m going on the field whether you like it or not" said Bennett to security according to news reports.
The new team Bennett plays for, the Eagles, said "We are aware of the situation involving Michael Bennett and are in the process of gathering more information. Because this is an ongoing legal matter, we will have no further comment at this time.”
