Zac Efron stars in Netflix's new film Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, which chronicles the story of notorious serial killer Ted Bundy (Efron). The film, which was released Friday (May 3) and follows January's four-part documentary series Conversations With a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes, has only been available to view for a few hours — but already, viewers have strong reactions.

It seems like two specific types of viewer reviews have emerged, with some people praising Efron for his acting abilities and on-the-nose portrayal, and others criticizing the movie for glorifying serial killers.

The film, which focuses on the trial from the point of view of Bundy's girlfriend, Elizabeth Kloepfer (Lily Collins), left some fans shocked that Efron — well-known in Hollywood for his sex appeal — took the role to begin with. (People have pointed out that his casting sexualizes the vicious serial killer.)

And then, of course, there are those who can't help but thirst after Efron's charismatic and charming Bundy.
