Kennewick police and fire crews continue to investigate an early morning fire that charred trees and brush in Zintel Canyon off of 10th in Kennewick.

Around 12:48am Saturday morning, the fire was spotted by a passing driver who called 911.  Police say fire crews were able to access the area using the paved patch, and put out the fire.

The blaze didn't threaten any homes, but was big enough it could be seen by surrounding homes and drivers passing over the area. Police did not say if it was arson, but given the cooler wet weather recently, it appears suspicious.  There have also been some fires in the area related to homeless people camping.
