It's always cool when you get to 'steer the boat.' But getting behind the wheel of a 200 mph hryoplane is a whole other experience entirely! Most of us will never get to do that in real life, but I was captivated by this video experience!

As the 2021 HAPO Air Show and Columbia Cup gets underway this Friday, Keep Your Eyes to the sky for the US Air Force F-35 that will be zipping across the skyline. Let's not forget about the P-51, the Erickson Aircraft Corsair & Skyraider, and civilian stunt flyers too! This will be the 55th running of the Tri-City Water Follies. The airshow begins at 11 a.m. all three days (Fri-Sun). The boat races were originally canceled for this year, but when covid restrictions relaxed they decided it would be on! Initially, they were only going to allow only 9,000 people per day. That has now been changed to unlimited. Whether or not to have concessions was kind of up in the air in the beginning. Never fear, they have decided that concessions, including beer gardens, will be allowed in certain zones. Remember, you can't bring your own adult beverages into the area, and no glass bottles. You can bring a cooler filled with nonalcoholic beverages and a picnic lunch if you like. The park opens at 8 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 7 a.m. on Sunday. The day always begins with hydroplane testing, and then the next hydroplane heat. Scheduled for 4:25 p.m. on Friday is the vintage hydroplanes. That's always cool to watch! On Saturday at 3:15 p.m., there is a pilot autograph session at the stage. For a complete schedule of this weekend's events click HERE.
