Having spent most of my life living in the Pacific Northwest, I've become somewhat ignorant. What I mean is, most of the lens through which I view the world and daily life has a Cascadia-shaded tint. For example, I only recently found out Jack in the Box was a west coast thing. Maybe I've been in a Washington-shaped bubble too long and have forgotten all about the outside world.

One thing I view through a Pacific Northwest-tinted lens is fashion. I don't mean that as a snooty thing. All I'm saying is I think we, as Washingtonians, dress similarly. If you don't believe me, I'd ask you to take a peek inside your own closet or drawers to prove me wrong. Go ahead. Tell me you don't have any of these articles of clothing in your home.

Perfect for fall and warmer winter days, the puffy vest is a core piece of any northwestern wardrobe. With all the heat being kept to your chest and body, who needs warm arms? I get called Marty McFly every day I wear my puffy vest, which coincidentally falls on the same day my boss wears his puffy vest. It's a PNW thing.

Before they became a status symbol for tech bros, Patagonia jackets were just expensive coats. Now it's a whole identity up here.

Hey, the Mariners ended their playoff drought. Not that that was stopping us from repping our M's hats anyway but now we can rock them with pride.

Yes, there was a hole designer jeans with outrageous holes thing but here in Washington, we wear our jeans until they disintegrate. You can't beat that level of comfort and familiarity.

And you thought I wasn't going to say flannel? Too easy, sure. But also true. I've yet to meet a person living in Washington that doesn't have at least two flannel shirts.

Feelings will be hurt. Just don't shoot the messenger because I'm just pointing out what I see.
