Police contained the establishment and began communication with the suspect. Benton County Sheriff's Deputies, Washington State Patrol, and Kennewick Police K9 Ivan all were brought in to assist in the incident.

The suspect refused to follow commands from officers to leave the building. However, when K9 Ivan was about to enter, the suspect was smart and decided to comply with instructions to exit the establishment. (I guess he was familiar with Ivan's perfect record of doing whatever is necessary to get the job accomplished.)
