Why do the bad guys even run from a K-9 Officer? It almost always ends in a bad way and you might as well give up at the start of the chase.

Moses Lake's Super-Star K-9 proving that crime doesn't pay. The Moses Lake Police Department filed this report on their Facebook page:

This morning, about 1 am, K9 Officer Zook stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Gibby just off Broadway.

As Ofc. Zook approached the vehicle, the driver took off at a high rate of speed. The vehicle made it less than a block before the driver lost control and spun out (which is not an easy feat in a Kia)

The driver fled the vehicle, leaving it in gear, which caused it to strike a parked car. By this point, Ofc. Zook was back in his car and saw the driver flee. Ofc. Zook gave chase with K9 Rex. After giving several commands to the suspect to stop, K9 Rex was launched. Rex caught the suspect rather quickly and put him to the ground.

Upon taking the suspect into custody, the driver was found to be a 16-year old male. The male had a felony warrant for his arrest for a previous case. Additionally, the Kia he was driving was reported stolen.

After being treated for minor puncture wounds at the hospital, the suspect was booked on charges of Felony Eluding, Theft of a Motor Vehicle and No Valid Operator’s License, as well as his outstanding felony warrant.

K-9 Rex proving once again why he's a valuable member of the Moses Lake Police Department. I hope he gets a nice steak tonight for all his hard work.
