Kennewick, Finley, Prosser Voters Rejecting 3 of 4 Levies–Finley Failing by 2 Votes

According to the latest voting results in Benton County, Kennewick voters are rejecting one of two levies, while the levies in Prosser and Finley are failing.

KENNEWICK VOTERS REJECTING OPERATIONAL LEVY BUT PASSING TECH IMPROVEMENTS.

The auditor's office shows 12,170 votes were counted, or 100% in Kennewick, and the Replacement Educational Programs and Operations Levy is failing 51.6 percent to 48.39.  However, the Replacement Levy for Instructional Technology Improvements was passing by a margin of just over 51 percent to 48 percent.  12,170 votes were cast on the operational levy, while 12,267 on the tech.

In the weeks leading up to the election, there were a number of local media stories about growing opposition to the levies due to citizens resistance to mask mandates. A growing number of groups said unless  the District did away with the mask mandates they would vote down the levies. It appears that is happening in part.

 FINLEY LEVY FAILING BY TWO VOTES

The Riverview School District Replacement Educational and Program and Operations levy was failing by 2 votes, 288 to 286.

  RICHLAND PASSING BOTH LEVIES

Richland was also deciding upon the same two type of levies. The operational was passing by a margin of just over 52 percent to 47 while the tech was moving 54 to 45 percent yes.

  PROSSER VOTING DOWN LEVY

This race is a multi-county race, as votes from Yakima County also count. But for Benton County results ONLY, the operations levy was failing by about 55 to 44 percent.

The auditors office says final election certification will be February 18th.
