TOPPENISH – Legends Casino Hotel has joined the list of Yakima Valley businesses that will temporarily close because of the coronavirus pandemic. The closure takes effect at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday (March 18) and will likely continue at least through March 31. The Yakima Nation, which operates the establishment, will re-evaluate the situation at that time, according to a Tuesday news release from the Yakama Nation.

The decision affects the casino, hotel, food outlets, event center and child care building.

"The Yakama Nation and Legends Casino Hotel have been in constant communication with local, state, and national health officials,” Yakama Nation Chairman Delano Saluskin said in Tuesday's release. “Each step we’ve made -- including the upcoming closure -- has been for the health and safety of our guests, team members and their families. We understand and regret the impact this will have on both our team members and our community.”

Employees will be continue to be paid from March 18 through March 31, according to the release.
