Mt. Rainier is gorgeous and a time-lapse video shows just how beautiful the mountain is when clouds are zipping by.

One of my favorite memories of living in Seattle was when my wife at the time, we'd lived there for a few years, said to me "where did that mountain come from?"

She hadn't noticed Mount Rainier in the background of the Seattle skyline because of the rain-soaked days that Seattle has more often than naught. We were driving over the former Alaskan Way Viaduct when she first spied the majesticness of Mount Rainier in all of her glory. It was a beautiful sight indeed.

I've only been to Mount Rainier once but it's on my bucket list to someday hike part of the mountain.

I was searching YouTube for some Rainier videos and came across two amazing videos. One has the cloud time-lapse video and another one was even more spectacular as it has Rainier against the backdrop of the Milky Way.

Here is the video that spotlights the Milky Way over Mt. Rainier

Mt. Rainier is one of our wonders right here in the backdrop of the Tri-Cities. it's an easy day trip to enjoy and it offers some spectacular views as well.

LOOK: Here are the best lake towns to live in

Many of the included towns jump out at the casual observer as popular summer-rental spots--the Ozarks' Branson, Missouri, or Arizona's Lake Havasu--it might surprise you to dive deeper into some quality-of-life offerings beyond the beach and vacation homes. You'll likely pick up some knowledge from a wide range of Americana: one of the last remaining 1950s-style drive-ins in the Midwest; a Florida town that started as a Civil War veteran retirement area; an island boasting some of the country's top public schools and wealth-earners right in the middle of a lake between Seattle and Bellevue; and even a California town containing much more than Johnny Cash's prison blues.
