If you love tamales, there is a brand new shop that just opened in the Parkway in Richland called Miss Tamale.

The owners Leticia and Mark Whitten had always wanted to open a restaurant but put it on hold to raise their three children. Now that the kids are 17, 14 and 12, it was time to live their dream, according to reports.

When an opening in the Parkway happened with the closing of Seoul Sushi, the Whittens capitalized. They invested $100,000.00 on restoration for the building and opened this month.

The family uses their own "authentic blend of traditional flavors and non-traditional fillings such as bean and cheese, vegan, beef and cheese and more" says Mark Whitten. Mark met Leticia years ago when he was vacationing in Mexico where she grew up and learned to cook these amazing dishes.

They plan to add tacos and other traditional Mexican dishes to their menu but for now are focused on tamales.

Miss Tamale is open from 9 am to 8 pm daily at 701 The Parkway in Richland.
