Mid-Century Luxury At The Nile Valley Rally In Naches

Vintage trailers from the 1950s and 60s are on display at the annual Nile Valley Rally in Naches, Washington.

Saturday 8/20 you're invited to an open house from 10am to 2pm at Jim Sprick Community Park, 13680 Highway 410 just outside Naches. About 45 retro-cool trailers will be on-site.

Looking at pictures of past events is like taking a trip back in time; conjuring images of dads in bowling shirts, butts parked in lawn-chairs with a can of Schlitz in hand. Moms wearing sunglasses, hair wrapped in scarves, legs wrapped in tight-fitting Capri pants. And the family pet looks curiously at a suitcase phonograph, spinning Frank Sinatra or some rockabilly tune as Bettie Page drives by in her Mustang convertible.

Um... It's possible that my knowledge of this era may be confined to paintings by pop-art sensation Shag.

Neat, huh?

But seriously, how can you not romanticize the idea "glamping" in our National Parks; enjoying mid-century modern luxury. Airstream trailers, campers with awnings. Pink Flamingos.
