We've had two cancellations of big events here in the Tri-Cities but two other event organizers are pushing forward to make sure their events are a part of your summer and fall.

The Waterfollies which host the annual hydro boat races and the City of Kennewick's 4th of July celebration have decided to cancel their 2021 events due to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions.

Two other events that are slated to happen are still a go according to volunteers and organizers.

The Benton Franklin County Fair and Rodeo and the 4th of July Fireworks show put on by the city of Pasco are determined to make sure their events happen.

The Benton Franklin County Fair and Rodeo posted this message on their Facebook page:

We are pushing ahead with plans for the Benton Franklin Fair & Rodeo. Like the rest of the community, we were saddened to learn of the cancelations of River of Fire and the Water Follies. We well understand the frustrations of trying to plan an event with so many unknowns, and the heartbreak of having to make those tough decisions. The state recently released guidance for events, creating new opportunities and challenges. We will continue to monitor developments in the weeks ahead and adapt so we are ready to safely celebrate our amazing community during the Best Week of Summer, August 24-28. We can’t wait to see you!

The Benton Franklin County Fair and Rodeo are hoping their event will happen in August and the City of Pasco is still planning to have their 4th of July fireworks celebration in some capacity.

Here is what the city posted on their website:

With the COVID-19 pandemic still affecting the way we are living, working, and playing, the City of Pasco is, once again forced to put many of our traditional Grand Old 4th of July celebration activities on hold for the time being.  The good news is that we will have a fireworks display in 2021! However, due to statewide COVID regulations we are not quite sure what the logistics of the fireworks show will look like at this time.  We will continue to plan for and add events as COVID restrictions allow.  Please watch our webpage as well as our social media posts for updates as they become available.

We'll keep you updated if anything changes when it comes to these two events but for now, it looks like both events are going forward with their planning.
