PSA: When an Airplane is Boarding, Forming Crowd Won’t Get You on Any Faster

We've all been there. You're excited to get to your destination, can't wait to find your seat and make yourself comfortable. well, as comfortable as you possibly could be on an airplane. Your make your way to the gate where your plane is waiting for you. Yes, just for you. Suddenly, it happens. They make the announcement that your plane is about to board. Though all planes board a little differently, the outcome doesn't matter. No matter which row or which aisle or even if you're flying first class or in the back of the plane, everyone decides to get up all at once and form a cloud of people.

Why?

Why do people do this?

Granted, if you need extra help getting on the plane or traveling with small childen who would board first, I suppose that would be fine because you're first to board. But even First Class tickets don't board first. In fact, they're often 3rd in line after people who need help or people with small children. Then they board active duty military as a thank you for their service.

On top of that, why is one so eager to board a plane? I love traveling but I don't want to be on an airplane as long as I don't have to be. Even if you board last you'll still make it to your destination along with everyone who couldn't wait to sit in a cramped seat, using the smallest restroom ever and having your ears causing so much discomfort.

Next time you travel, know where you're supposed to be and casually board when they call your number or letter or however your flight company does it.
