Kyle Roberson was piloting a sailplane when it crashed about eight miles west of Ephrata in a remote farm field near Baird Springs Road Northwest and Road J-Northwest late in the afternoon Thursday killing Roberson on impact.
Roberson's body will have an autopsy conducted by the Grant County Coroner. The aircraft was an Alexander Schleicher model ASW28-18 sailplane. The area is popular with glider enthusiasts as the summertime atmospheric thermal layering helps keep gliders aloft.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.
