Seattle Mariners Stadium to Lose Safeco Field Name After 2018

Safeco Field the home of the Seattle Mariners will change its name after the 2018 season. The name change was announced this morning by both the Mariners organization and by Safeco Insurance according to news reports. Mariners President Kevin Mather said

“Safeco Insurance has been a great partner of the Mariners dating back to the earliest days of the franchise, including the ballpark naming rights for the last 20 years,” “We appreciate everything Safeco has done over the years to support our organization and look forward to continuing the relationship in the future.”

The stadium has been called Safeco Field since the building opened 20 years ago in 1998. The Mariners have started talks with other companies about sponsorship opportunities but nothing has been announced yet.
