After being brutally assaulted with a metal baseball bat, Drew Schreiber is nearing the end of recovery from his life-threatening condition.

Last October, the Eastern Washington University student was attacked near a Cheney apartment complex by two men, one of which was armed with a bat.

The state-title track star was admitted at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center & Children’s Hospital in Spokane with a concave skull, and other mortal wounds. Schreiber suffered through two craniotomies and six metal plates holding his skull together.

Only after four months, Drew can already run a 6-minute mile and he's coaching track at Eisenhower High School to help the kids there succeed.
