This weekend 7 Tri-Cities young ladies will compete in the Miss Juneteeth Pageant this Saturday, June 25th, at Chiawana High School in Pasco. The pageant is open to African-American girls grades 10-12, and commemorates June 19th, 1865 when news that the Civil War was over and the Emancipation Proclamation reached Galveston, TX. The ladies will compete in an interview, evening wear, and talent competition to win scholarship money for college.

Advanced tickets are available before June 23rd for $10 at Xtreme Beauty in Pasco, Pink Pearl Boutique in Richland, and Touch Wellness Center in Kennewick. Day of, the tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for high school students, and $5 for middle and elementary school students. Kids under 5 are free. After the pageant there's a party at the Red Lion Pasco.
