It seems like nothing is sacred to scam artists and now the U.S. Army is warning that "draft" texts that are circulating are fake and a scam.

The texts seem to have originated in California and the messages are asking young men to contact the US Army Referral Program. If you know someone who gets a text saying they've been drafted, it's fake.

There hasn't been a draft since 1973 and according to the Army, it would take a lot for there to be draft today. It takes an act of Congress to ratify a draft and only in dire circumstances.

Men 18-35 are still required to register with Selective Service but the texts and scams aren't legit and someone is spreading undue fear among young men.
