Thunderbird Motel sign crashes down, part of renovation

The City of Pasco recently purchased the motel and plans to raze it for parking and growth.

For the better part of a decade, the formerly family-friendly venue become more known for its unsavory activities, including drugs and prostitution, and police calls.

The City bought it for a reported $1.2 million dollars and plans to utilize the space for more parking for the renovated downtown area, including the recently re-opened Peanuts Park area.

As far back as 8 years, Pasco Police were called to the hotel at least once a day, which is quite a few calls--stretching resources.

As we reported earlier, the motel dates back at least to 1981, but over time fell into disarray as vacationers opted for other newer hotel choices in other areas of the Tri-Cities.
