51 Louisiana Things We Wish That Washington State Had
National Louisiana Day is on November 9th and I couldn't be more excited! I love me some Texas, but there are definitely many things from Louisiana that I wish we had over here.
The reason I love the state of Louisiana so much is that I have some deep family ties there. I have a few great-aunts, great-uncles, and cousins who have lived there since the 70s, and when I was a young child, my parents and younger brother went to visit them in New Orleans. I was too young to remember tasting the fantastic food or experiencing the lively spirit of the people. I can only recall that we visited a creepy cemetery and that it was humid AF, as the kids say.
As an adult, I have had many opportunities to visit Louisiana, I just have never done so. I am kicking myself in the keester now because I want more than anything to hop on a plane or take a road trip over the border and have myself a good old time. I can't do that right now, for obvious COVID reasons, but you bet your sweet beignets I'm going to visit New Orleans the second I can. I also want to visit my last living great-aunt on my mother's side who lives in Baton Rouge with her son and great-niece.
Louisiana is best known for its delicious food, the city of New Orleans, and some crazy alligator-filled swamp life, but I can give you a few more people, places, and things to celebrate our fancy sister state to the west.
