Best Bets for Comedy in the Northwest This Month
It's a great month for comedy in the Northwest! Looks like more and more headliners are hitting the road, and that's good news for you and me! Below is a list of comics who kill it. Every. Single. Time.
Spokane Comedy Calendar for May
Shawn Wayans is busy this weekend, playing both the Spokane Comedy Club (5/6 & 5/7) and the Tacoma Comedy Club (5/8) as part of his national tour. You know him from In Loving Color, Scary Movie, White Chicks, and the Wayans Bros. (duh).
Brian Posehn is a comedian, writer, actor, a total geek, and a metal god. You know him from the Comedians of Comedy, the Silver Silverman program and many film appearances, including in Rob Zombie's splatter-fest, the Devil's Rejects. He's at the Spokane Comedy Club May 12th-14th.
Fortune Feimster has a radio show with fellow comic, Tom Papa, and has an extensive list of acting credits, including Glee, The Mindy Project, and Chelsea Lately. She's even been a voice on the Simpsons! And Fortune has her own Netflix special. But see her in person before watching that. Fortune Feimster is at the Martin Woldson Theater at the FOX on May 14th.
Nate Bargatze has the distinction of putting out the first comedy special taped during the Covid pandemic, hosted outdoors, with guests masked up. His low-key delivery and "average American" attitude belies a comic genius that audiences have taken a liking to. You'll find him at The Bing on May 19th.
Tacoma Comedy Calendar for May
David Koechner from The Office, and Anchorman will be at the Tacoma Comedy Club May 5th-7th, but the show on May 7th is what really has our attention: imagine playing trivia about The Office with the Real Todd Packer. Yes, please!
After a few shows in Spokane, Shawn Wayans extends his Northwest visit bt dropping in on the Tacoma Comedy Club May 8th.
Akaash Singh is a comedian, actor and TV host whose special "Bring Back Apu," a reaction to the Simpsons giving in to pressure to drop the Kwiki Mart character from it's show, garnered him worldwide attention. His NFG style of comedy hits the Tacoma Comedy Club May 12th-14th.

Craig Robinson from The Office, Hot Tub Time Machine and the darkly comic new Peacock series Killing It, brings his comedy, improv and musical chops to the Tacoma Comedy Club on May 26th-29th. An evening with Craig is more than stand-up. It's a celebration!
Seattle Comedy Calendar for May
Sebastian Maniscalco seemed to come out of nowhere, popping up on our radars a fully-formed comedian; the thick Chicago accent, funny facial expressions and cartoon-like physicality. The truth is that he's a pro who put in the work to get where he is now, which is pretty much everywhere, from the MTV Video Music Awards to riding along with Jerry Seinfeld on his Netflix series, Comedians in Cars getting coffee. Maniscalco takes over the Paramount Theater on May 21st.
Portland Comedy Calendar for May
Maria Bamford is the Queen of Alternative Comedy in the 21st Century; a true original! She'll be the first to tell you that her act isn't for everybody, but those that get it are onto something very special. The Lady Dynamite star lights up Helium Comedy Club May 19th-21st. Keep your eye on her Twitter feed, she often meets virtually and in-person to try out new material, one-on-one, with lucky fans. Told you she was special.
The Roast-master General, Jeff Ross, brings his aggressive, nothing is sacred brand of humor to Helium Comedy Club May 27th-29th. He promises a "speed roast," so I'm not sure I'd sit right in front where he can see you, but I'd definitely get a ticket if you're a fan of his Celebrity Roasts, and Bumping Mics specials on Netflix.
Tri-Cities Comedy Calendar for May
Omar Tarango has the laughs you are looking for May 20th and 21st at Joker's Comedy Club. The Latin Comedy Jam alum is clever and clean, which is why comedy clubs and cruise ships love him.
