In case you don't remember, or didn't hear, back on April12th two black men were arrested at a Starbucks in Philadelphia because a white manager called the police when the two men wanted to wait for their friend to arrive before ordering. The incident was caught on video and went viral almost immediately. The men were later released, and Starbucks CEO, Howard Schultz issued a statement and met the men in person to apologize. He also promised to close 8,000 stores in the US to have anti-bias training for Starbucks employees. In an open letter, he explained why and hopes that customers will appreciate this, in spite of the slight inconvenience of being closed early.

The Court Street Starbucks on Pasco is one of many stores that will be closing. I'm pretty sure other stores in the Tri-Cities will also be closed starting at 2 (maybe even all). But I am sure of the Court Street location because I go there pretty much every morning. You can read the open letter by clicking this. Do you think this training will help?
