Diaz was booked into the San Diego County Jail earlier this month pending an extradition hearing.

In July of 2008, Kennewick Police were called to a residence in reference to a threats report. After investigation, it was learned that Diaz (21-years-old at the time) had allegedly kidnapped a 12-year-old girl. Diaz reportedly had sexual intercourse with the victim in Portland, OR.

The victim was with her family at the time of the report. As the Kennewick Police Department's detective division took over the investigation, a felony warrant was eventually issued for the arrest of Diaz for kidnapping 2nd Degree.

Diaz fled the Tri-Cities and has been on the lam since. On Thursday, detectives with the Kennewick Police Criminal Apprehension team traveled to San Diego to arrest Diaz and bring him back to Benton County to stand trial.

After all this time, to witness teamwork finally pay off is rewarding. There are so many crimes and murders that go unsolved.

This kidnapping investigation also alleges that Diaz had sexual intercourse with the minor victim. That's RAPE. I cannot imagine what the young woman has been feeling over the years, not knowing where her kidnapper was. Has he raped and kidnapped others?

Enrique Diaz will have to answer for his alleged crimes soon. Great teamwork!
