As part of the Airport Improvement Program and CARES Funding, 242 airports in 41 states are going to receive funding for much needed improvements, some of them pretty substantial.

While no SE WA airfield are getting a facelift, the airport in LaGrande, OR will be receiving over $7 million worth of improvements. The list is lengthy, as reported by the Federal Aviation Administration.

"Construct Apron,Construct Taxiway,Extend Taxiway,Install Airfield Guidance Signs,Install Runway Lighting,Install Runway Vertical/Visual Guidance System,Reconstruct Runway,Rehabilitate Runway,Rehabilitate Taxiway, Install Runway Vertical/Visual Guidance System."

According to information released by the FAA Tuesday:

“This $273 million federal investment in our nation’s airports will strengthen safety, improve travel, generate jobs, and benefit local communities,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao. "

No timetable as to when the renovations will begin in LaGrande.
