Summer Sizzled But What’s in Store For Winter?
We broke all kinds of records for heat and air quality this summer, and it was NOT a fun time. But finally the weather is chilling out and getting in to more comfortable temperatures. Autumn is usually a a perfect time to live in the Tri-Cities, but winters can be brutal. The weather stations and resources have been busy trying to see figure out what winter has in store for us. Well, it looks like winter will be much kinder to us than this summer has been.
According to the Farmer's Almanac, this winter will see warmer than usual temperatures for us here in the Northwest. Snow and rain fall should be higher than usual. Things are looking cold for the Southwest, though.
This winter, we expect to seeabove-normal temperatures almost everywhere in the United States. In terms of precipitation, we are predicting above-normal levels for most of the country, except in the Southeast, southern California, the nation’s midsection, and parts of Alaska and Hawaii, where normal or below-normal precipitation amounts are expected instead.
So, it's looking like we're going to need to bust out rain jackets instead of snow parkas this winter. And if we're truly crazy, maybe even carry an umbrella. But who knows, these are just predictions, and maybe we'll see white Christmas after all... I'm not holding my breath though.
