Oregon Pot Raises $75 Million in Taxes They Can’t Spend…Yet
Oregon marijuana has raised over $75 million dollars since 2016 but they can't spend any of it yet because of a technical glitch in the law. Oregon could really use that money to help with the 1.6 billion dollar deficit but can't spend any of the money because of a small part of the legal cannabis laws according to news reports. The law says that BEFORE any money can be used, the "Oregon Liquor Control Commission must be reimbursed for administrative costs associated with setting up the marijuana program".
Until they are reimbursed the money just sits in a state account and can not be spent on important things it is supposed to go to like schools and police.
